Now or Never!

So I came across this catch-phrase at the time of the 2007 Cricket World Cup when I read these words by the then Team India Cricket Coach, John Wright .. "Now or Never"!

Have found this to be absolutely correct since then ; You may have come across various versions of this but the message is always essentially the same.. The time is always Now.
Have you ever really thought that all you can do about the Past is look at it fondly or regret it ; And all you can actually do about the Future is imagine or wonder?

So, the only place where we can actually do anything that can make a difference is the Present right?

But easier said than done right?

I can correlate this with the very example of my starting this blog and share with you what I learnt..

All the while I kept doubting myself,
It was just time lost;
While I couldn't see it yesterday,
Today I see that I paid a high cost..

I may not know,
What tomorrow holds for me;
But I act today..
Just so I have no regrets and can be free...  😊

Another thing I have learnt from experience.. Neither does there seem to be any logical reason for regretting or being lost in the Past that has already happened and can't be changed ; Nor is there any point in worrying about an uncertain future (that you only are creating with your imagination always!).

So it seems best to live in the moment always na? 😊

P.S. Like about everything, this also reminds of a song! 😉

The Hands of Fate

Would like to share with you today, another poem I had written many years ago!

The Hands Of Fate

I began my journey with earnest vigour,
Eager to win the race;
So I looked ahead with solemn resolution
And walked straight at a swift pace
Each time I fell, I rose again
Found my way and moved on;
Never once taking a break,
Never once halting to yawn

But lo and behold! The hands of fate
That brought me to the dark;
When all the while I had walked just straight
Fate played with me a lark

I found myself in oblivion,
Not knowing where the path led
I searched around for some light but,
I knew not where my life head

Feeling lost and helpless,
I wished to give up and give in
But reminding myself of the journey I had made,
I stopped myself from committing this sin

I took out some time to look back,
To reflect on what had brought me so far;
I pondered over all that I had gained
And decided not to let this darkness overpower

Not knowing still where I had to go,
I believed in myself and let fate lead the way;
And so I continue to walk slowly ahead,
Believing the darkness will soon go away

I know the light will come again
And things will again be clear;
So I hold the hands of fate & walk ahead
In the darkness, without any fear

Beyond The Technology

I came across an interesting quote, apparently, by Albert Einstein, and couldn't help but think about it and kind of agree..!

This really made me think of how much we are getting increasingly dependent on Technology for about everything in our lives today!

So I'd like you to pause for a minute and think how "A long time ago in a galaxy not so far away" 😉 (I mean in the times before we were surrounded by so much technology! ..basically without the effect of technology), how did you or how do you relax??

What brings a smile to your face or a feeling of peace to your heart, and that is not related to the daily routine of your life today ?

You must let me know whatever comes to your mind right now.

DISCLAIMER: I want you to get that when I ask you to speak up, it is just for You. Try it once and see how it feels. 😊

Limitless

Just read the post I had written yesterday 'toh ye geet yaad aaye' ( Hope you get the reference ? 😉 )

So just thought of sharing it with you..

P.S. It's the start of the week and if you wish to unwind by watching a nice Hollywood movie, you might like the one in this video, called Limitless (I personally quite liked it!)

Moonlight

Doesn't coming across something beautiful you had created in the past bring a sweet smile to your face and a kind of calmness in your heart? 😊

Something like this just happened to me a while ago as I came across this short video I had created, of a few lines I had written, both so many years ago!

Please check out this work of an amateur and think about it before we proceed (Would take less than a minute!)

So now that you are done pondering over The Moon's Plight, I'd like you to give a thought to the lines I just wrote, and share with me your thoughts! 😊

Luminosity

It took me so long,
But I got it at last;
I just had to believe in myself,
And shine steadfast

For neither is there any fixed beginning,
Nor would there be anybody else;
I must stand for what I believe in,
And for what my heart yells

Once a ray of light is seen,
The luminosity will soon increase;
It’ll surely happen now,
Only this belief should not cease

PPF

If the title seems technical to you, relax! Am just referring to the Three tenses of the English language... Past, Present & Future! 😉

But, what are you tensed about right now?

I often see people around me remembering the old times and wishing for time to be the same again; and also people constantly fretting about the future, and then I wonder to myself.. What's the point of living like this...?

'Cause the way I see it, Que sera sera (whatever will be, will be) anyway. So why let anything stop you from living freely right now?!

[Gosh! there are so many songs flooding my head right now! 😉]

Anyway, I get that you must have in most likelihood heard somebody say this same thing to you earlier also, but usko kya pata [what does (s)he know] right?

I don't know whether you also believe this or not, but are we all not "essentially" the same?

I think that where we differ is only in terms of the micro (individual) situations we face, and secondly, our perspectives (as our past experiences determine how we view and face different situations) .. What do you think??

P.S. This pic (see below) I just came across, reminded me of a scene from the Bollywood movie, Rang De Basanti..

Our current situation at large.. "If you have one leg in the past, and the other in the future, then you'll obviously only be peeing in the present, right"?! 😉

[DISCLAIMER: Just quoting a translated dialogue from a movie that I find entertaining and thought provoking!]

YOU & YOUR Life

Kar kya rahe ho tum?

Apni uljhano ko suljhaane mein,
Apni musibato ko bhagaane mein,
Doosri dikkato ko nazar andaz karne ke ailava..
Kya kuch aur kar rahe ho tum?

Kya duniya vaisi hai jaise tum chahte ho?
Jo nahi lagta sahi, wo kyun sehte ho?
Khud pe bharosa karke toh dekho,
Sab kuch kar sakte ho tum.

^^ Just a few words I'd like you to think about today.

(A thought for believers in Karma) ..

Have you ever heard the saying.. "You reap what you sow"?

Doesn't this imply that if we take responsibility for all that we face, we can then act and change things?

Another one.. Boond boond se sagar banta hai ?

Toh agar humein sagar sahi nahi lag raha toh sagar badlega pehle ya boond?

---
1 thing I'd like to confess today..

It really saddens me that even those who wake up feel so helpless today in front of societal norms..

Why, just why do we not recognize the fact that it's we the people who make the society, and NOT the way round?

And it deeply grieves me to think that when even educated people, don't even question or speak freely with a random blogger, how will this world ever be a better place...?

C'est la vie? (That's life) ... Is it really as simple as accepting this fact, and continue being miserable, or happy and shallow?

As I've said before, This is it. Let's not go through life; rather let's, Grow through life!

So even if nothing else, Speak Up!

Attitude

Let's rewind a bit.. We've discussed My Best Attitude but let's discuss Attitude today!

How many times in life have you said or heard someone say that “(s)he has a lot of attitude”?!

I think that it is precisely because of this statement that unfortunately & unintentionally we generally relate attitude with something negative! But here is where we need to remind ourselves that all humans have attitude! Positive, negative… in varying degrees!

Think about the above two sentences and let us know what do you think?

This is my perspective and I think you should always be cautious to just ‘put your best attitude forward’!

(In case you feel you are already doing the above and yet not succeeding, I'd just like to request you to ask yourself what is the one more thing you can do, and just do it!)  😊

Happy Fathers' Day!

(Papa, this one's especially for you 😍)

www.dictionary.com defines a Father as a man who exercises paternal care over other persons; paternal protector or provider . Personally I feel that the only word missing in the above definition is "Silently" .

I think all fathers, be it the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, or Your Father, take on their family's responsibility quite incoherently and quietly stimulate you to live your life to it's full potential!

Don't you think that the presence of this one person in your life inspires you, motivates you and makes you feel cared about?

I particularly love the following video in this context; Am yet to come across a better BDO (Beyond D Obvious) description of a Father!

(You must take out two minutes to watch this.)

(Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2Dhh9Cwgdw)

Love you papa . So blessed to have you in my life .. Thank You 😊

Besides, wish you all a very Happy Fathers' Day too!

Idea!

Why don't you post a message for Your Father here too?!

MBA – My Best Attitude

For those who don't know, I wanted to do an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) ever since I remember, and am really glad I did! I found it to be a course full of concepts & principles not just perfect for business but also for practical application in daily life!

So yes, you’ll probably keep getting several references from what I learnt in the course in what I write!

Today , I’d like to discuss what is probably my favourite concept of Maslow’s Hierarchy Of Needs!

You might have heard of famous psychologist Abraham Maslow, who studied positive human qualities and the lives of exemplary people. In 1954, he created The Hierarchy of Human Needs and expressed his theories in his book Motivation and Personality that continues to inspire us even today!

I have always found this to be a completely true and relatable concept in life!

The above image illustrates our needs, classified into five broad categories that broadly cover all human needs. Besides, it also mentions the popular social media of today that aid in fulfilling each of these needs!

Request you to take a look at it bottoms-up, consider the stage you fall in and think about how to move up!

Besides, we'd love to know your thoughts as always 😊

Behind The Mask

This one's especially dedicated to all the readers of this blog who await my post everyday 😊

Wrote these lines after a typical day at work years ago, so you may be able to relate.. from a clown's perspective 😉

BEHIND THE MASK

As the light comes out in the sky,
I walk down to the circus to begin my wry;
All day I crack jokes to make others cry,
Singing & dancing like a buffoon, wondering why..

Why must I be japed at,
Why must I be a lampoon;
Addled what makes me consent to that,
& what makes me accept my fortune..

I spend all day making everyone laugh,
They think I’m funny, as I continue my chaff;
Dazed by my perfect life, & envious of my joy,
They forget their miseries, & my idiosyncrasies, they enjoy..

I remove the mask from my face
As the day comes to an end,
Happy to go home.. where I can be myself,
And where I don’t have to pretend..

As I sit by the window,
The questions come back to me,
‘Why’, I must know,
So I ponder, and begin to see..

I think of all the smiles I spread,
Of all the faces I light up every day;
It’s all worth a thousand tears,
& all the drudgery that comes my way..

So, content with this thought
I go to bed with a smile,
I feel like I’ve won a battle fought,
With rewards worthwhile…

Live It Up!

Hello! You might have guessed from the post title, that this post is dedicated to the FIFA World Cup 2018 commencing today!

Live It Up is the official song for the event and one excellent thought that appears in the video is the following quote by Publilius Syrus..

What really excites me about Any Sport is the energy that flows while a match is on! The passion of not only the players, but also the fans is simply awesome! 😃 Wo junoon...! 😉

I have always seen people only come closer through sports; And I think it's not about about what side you are on, rather, it's the love for the game that binds everyone!

But having said that, I also do believe that taking sides adds to the excitement. We should just never forget however, the Sportsman Spirit that only adds to our personality and, makes us stronger & better human beings! 😊

So here's to a month of liberal fervour!

A Game Of Cards

Came across a poem in my archives today that I had written about a decade ago. Thought I'd share it with you and ask you for your thoughts 😊

A GAME OF CARDS

I lie awake in this tardy night…
Seeing things in black and white;
I see myself trying so hard,
Always wanting to pick the right card;
But no matter, what I think & what I try…
I’m always wrong, and I always cry;
I keep trying …hoping to get it right,
But failing each time ...my only plight;
The game continues… & I’m still trying,
Still playing by the rules... never lying;
Hoping still to pick the ace...
So I can look into the mirror,
& proudly see my face…

But then I ask myself, how would it be...
So I look into the mirror, and see…
To my surprise, there’s nothing I can trace,
All is ok, all with God’s grace;
And then it hit me, it hit me hard…
The ace was never the only right card;
The other cards are just as right,
I didn’t get the ace, but one day I might;
So I collect my cards, & keep playing...
Thanking God for the ones I have,
& to win more, I keep praying…

Fear

Have grown up feeling afraid from time to time, but also calming myself down with words such as "Fear is only a mental monster ... It's just a negative stream of consciousness."

Have realized over the years that as long as there is life, we will be faced with unwanted situations, which would lead to the feelings of apprehension and fear; And so I decided to simply view it differently! [Refer to my post on Perspective (Right or Wrong?)]

I strongly believe that The best way to overcome fear is to face it. I now see fear as a challenge instead of an obstacle, and it is so much fun ! (One way that might help you change your outlook is asking yourself the question "so?". Try it!)

Another thing I remind myself whenever I feel afraid is that I don't know anything about an afterlife, so let me just experience all that I can right now! N ya, on the off chance that there is one, let me just do good and be good too ... it's more challenging and fun today anyway! 😉

How do you face your fears? Any thoughts or experiences to share? Would be delighted to know! 😊

Change

I’d come across a very interesting statement a few years ago which claimed that “The only constant thing in life is change”!

Having the habit of questioning everything, this arose several questions in my head such as: Really? Why do we need change? Or do we just want it? Is it the same for everyone? Does everyone like change? What is change really? Is it always good?!

Then I remembered one of Gandhiji’s popular sayings, “Be the change you want to see” and I began to wonder why! How could that help?! And what if the change I wanted to see was in-fact foolish and unwise to begin with?!

I struggled with this for a long time but came to realize years later that changing myself may not lead to necessarily changing the world, but it certainly leads to a change in my world; and isn’t that really what one should be most concerned about?!

So perhaps, we should be questioning why we want to see a particular change and how will it help? Will it just help you get what you want right now or is this something you’d like to see for your future generations too?!

If the answers to these questions are positive then “Just Do It” ! But easier said than done right?!

This is an issue I’ve faced many times but the answer is in what I’ve said earlier… Keep It Simple Silly (KISS)!

Start small but just start! For instance, I want everyone to be free in this world and I may not know where exactly am headed with this blog, but if am able to positively affect even one person’s life, I’d be very happy; and so I just write from my heart!

Sound of Music

First of all, Guys it ain't easy to think of the topic for the next post without any comments! So please share your thoughts just for that, even if for nothing else!

Now coming to today's topic, was just thinking... Is it just me or you love music too?

If I talk about my perspective, I find music extremely soothing for the soul (and am referring to all genres, depending on one's mood!)

So today I'd just love to know about your favourite song(s) (top 1-3)??

Even if you can't think of any 1, why don't you just share what the Ringtone of your phone is?!

Mine currently is a song by Kansas.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5ZJui3aPoQ

What tune* can you listen to any time?

(* could be a song/ some particular music/ sounds or ?)

It's Time to ... ?

...Write for me as of now 😊

Well a few people asked me why I did not post anything yesterday and I replied that I didn't get the time! This got me thinking... I did have as much time as everyone else, why I didn't post was because my priorities were different!

So I guess "waqt kabhi hota nahi, nikaalna padta hai" (You don't have time for anything till you take some out for it)! It seems to boil down to the fact that You are the one always deciding where to spend your time, right?!

And where you do so, seems to depend on your priorities; which implies that if we set our priorities right, we would be utilizing our time better ... What say?

Power

So the comment on my previous post made me think.. Who really has the power? Where does it come from?

Yea you'd probably be thinking that now I'll say the cliched line that the "Power lies within you".

And you’d probably argue that if you really had all the power then why don’t you have all that you want and why are you not the happiest person in the world?!

Fair enough, but one question I have for you… Have you ever really felt that power?! If you have, then am sure you must have even been scared of yourself!

If not, then my friend, sorry to inform you but I think you are running after something you don’t even know!

Have you ever thought that the simplest way of giving away your power is by blaming someone else?!

How many times have you said that XYZ would or would not have happened if (s)he had acted in a certain way or things had been different?!

Hope you realize that what you’re doing here is giving away the power to someone else to affect you!

I think that’s precisely why they say that you become mature when you start taking more responsibilities because that is when you are more in control!

Hey it’s your life! We don’t even really know what happens after death… so let’s make the most of what we have right?!

But my point here is that when we don’t know what’ll happen after life but we have the power, then why not only do good and “be the change you want to see” as our beloved Gandhiji had said?!

(You’d have more questions on my last thought I suppose, but that’s for next time now!)

Being Happy

To continue where I’d left off last time, isn’t being happy the ultimate end result everyone wishes for always?!

You want lots of money so you can live a comfortable life and be happy; you want to be successful at work or at whatever you do because it gives you a sense of achievement or fulfillment, and you thus feel happy; You want to be loved by someone in a particular way because, again, it makes you happy right?!

But is being happy really dependent on so many things or is it so only because you have unintentionally yourself attached so many conditions to your happiness!?!

As per me, happiness is a decision. You want to be happy, be happy! That’s one thing no one can take away from you unless you let them! What do you think?!

K.I.S.S. – Keep It Simple Silly!

In this increasingly complex life, I feel that this is the mantra to remember always!

I feel it is really easy to get entangled in our lives!

The way I see it is that as life progresses, more and more elements get added to your life, irrespective of who you are. Thus, life keeps getting complicated and our task is only to reduce the complications by keeping it as simple and clear as we can!

If you think that this sounds insane because why would anyone ever want to complicate their life and doesn’t everyone work towards making life better only always?! ..It's cool!

I agree but here I’d like you to pause for a moment and ask yourself… Is this all you are really doing?!

The simplest way of reaching the core is asking yourself the question ‘why’!

Let’s consider an example to better understand this: You work a job. Ask yourself why. Maybe because you just want to work. But why? Maybe you just want the money, maybe you just like it; ask yourself why!

The more you do this, the more clarity and perspective you’ll gain; and you’ll also feel better about yourself… and as a result, you’ll also be happier!

But I admit that there are times when instead of asking the question 'why?', the question 'so?' puts me at peace! I have found that this question helps me accept more and hence strengthens me!

Try it and let me know if this works for you ... Why or So ?

Sunday, 3 June 2018

Why?!

Today I just want to share with you the reason why I want to write!

Yes, having a platform to share my thoughts and opinions is the prime reason, but let’s go a step further back; why do I want to do that… why do I even care!

Well, let me tell you something about myself first; Am a person who believes that there is always a silver lining to everything that happens (“Jo hota hai, ache ke liye hota hai”). One may not always understand it in the beginning according to me, but if you have the faith, you’ll figure it out sooner or later!

Coming back to the universal question “why”, I ardently believe that knowing the answer to this question before beginning anything works as a good motivator that helps you in achieving your goal!

I always used to question everything, but like most of us I guess, I also soon came to realize that things just are and to be a normal, mature individual, I must follow some norms!

But Mr. Albert Einstein saved me! He’d said “Never stop questioning” and I haven’t!

Anyway, enough of the aberration, the reason why I’d like to share my thoughts and opinions is just to get you to think and to show you the beauty of life!

Also, I really don’t want to sound preachy (am certainly not qualified to do so anyway!). Hence, my posts will aim to just make you smile or give you some food for thought… You may find it palpable or not, that’s up to you!

Meher 😊

P.S. Did you notice that this is the only question I've asked in this post? 😉

Right or Wrong?

Hi again! The comment of the Unknown Reader made me think.. As a human being, we all have a brain, which implies we all think and have a perspective (Even if it is simply agreeing with another's perspective!)

As a Management student I think, aren't we all simply consumers of thoughts?

And if this is so, this implies there are influencers too (which are obviously different for different people).

So is there truly any right and wrong? Or is it just a matter of perception and perspective?
